Mickey
Thompson's Mach 1 funny cars led the transition from the
Logghe-type ladder-framed FCs to the lighter, quicker digger-style
setup. The innovative Pat Foster designed and built the
cars, which were driven by Danny Ongais and Foster himself.
Anyone who saw the Mach 1s remembers their trademark launch,
carrying the left front wheel in the air through the better
part of the quarter mile. The Blue Car, with Ongais at the
wheel, was the fastest of the field in 1969, winning both
the NHRA Springnationals and Indy Nationals.
Available
in three sizes on acid-free 100% cotton canvas, mounted
