Every
race fan favors his particular era and its heroes. For me,
it's the late sixties and early seventies. Innovation was
the rule. Aerodynamics, engines, tires and chassis design
all took quantum forward leaps in every form of motorsport
thanks to a generation of bold young racers who still thought
of their pursuits as sport. Regardless of your preferred
form of racing, it was an exciting time to be a fan, and
that excitement is what drove me to become an automotive
artist. It would also eventually lead me to meet
my friends and partners Donn and Christian Gurney at RaceLegends.com.
1320
Legends.com is different from my previous work. After twenty
years concentrating on historic racing scenes and portraits
of classic and vintage road-racing cars, I began thinking
again about the classics of drag racing: Top Fuelers, Funny
Cars, Fuel Altereds, Gassers, Pro Stock, FX, the factory
Super Stocks- the list is long and storied. How better to
begin than with Big Daddy Don Garlits' famous line of "Swamp
Rat" dragsters? The answer is "Transformation",
my first step back into drag racing after a long time away.
There
is much more to come at 1320 Legends.
My work will span the sport of drag racing, with emphasis
on the cars I saw race and still appreciate today.
Thanks for coming, and I hope you enjoy.
